Leighton Baines believes that Victor Anichebe is showing his potential in the Premier League.

Everton left-back Leighton Baines has admitted that the pace and power of striker Victor Anichebe frightens opposition defences.

Baines said that Anichebe's run in the team this season has given him confidence, which in turn has been a boost to Everton's performances.

"We have known [how good he is] for a while and believed in him for a while and he is starting to believe it himself," Baines told the club's official website.

"We are starting to see the rewards from that self-belief that he has gained. He has been an important player for us this season.

"He has come up with some important goals and beyond that he has given us something, with his strength, that we can play up to. Defenders are starting to fear him as well so he is a big asset to us."

Anichebe has scored seven goals in 20 appearances this season for the Toffees.
