Everton boss Roberto Martinez: 'Leighton Baines should return to action soon'

Roberto Martinez reveals that Everton left-back Leighton Baines will return to action "soon" following a lengthy spell out with an ankle injury.

Everton manager Roberto Martinez has revealed that Leighton Baines should return to action "soon" following a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

The England international has not featured at all for the Toffees this season after undergoing surgery on an ankle ligament injury.

Brendan Galloway has taken the full-back spot during Baines's absence, but the youngster faces some competition as the 30-year-old is edging closer to fitness.

In this morning's press conference, Martinez confirmed the news and added that Bryan Oviedo is 100% ahead of this weekend's Premier League clash against Arsenal.

"Bryan is fully fit and Leighton should be back soon, which gives us fantastic options - that's what you want," Martinez told reporters.

Everton are currently ninth in the table.
