Half-Time Report: Aaron Lennon gives Everton lead

Aaron Lennon scores shortly before half time to give Everton a 1-0 lead over Swansea City in the Premier League.

Aaron Lennon scored just before half time to give Everton a 1-0 lead over Swansea City in their Premier League match at the Liberty Stadium this afternoon.

Everton had the majority of the possession in the opening 10 minutes, but it was the home side that created the first chance when Bafetimbi Gomis tried a 25-yard lob, but Tim Howard tipped it wide.

It was to be the in-form striker's only opportunity though as he appeared to tweak a hamstring while striking the ball, forcing him off with just over quarter of an hour played.

Everton tried to take advantage of the early change with Ross Barkley looking to get involved on the counter-attack, but Marvin Emnes, who replaced Gomis, stopped Gareth Barry getting through.

Lukasz Fabianski had to remain alert between the posts for Swansea when Seamus Coleman unleashed a rocket from 25 yards out, but the keeper managed to tip it behind.

The Toffees did open the scoring just before the break though, as Lennon brought down a James McCarthy cross before slicing the ball in from close range.
