Joe Cole targets England recall

Joe Cole has set his sights on earning a recall to Fabio Capello's England squad.

The 29-year-old midfielder joined French champions Lille on a season-long loan deal last month from Liverpool and has impressed during his spell on the continent so far.

However, before regaining a place in the national side, Cole is keen to help Lille build on last season's success.

"I hope Fabio Capello watches Ligue 1," Cole told l'Equipe. "If I can get a recall to the national team, I'll be the happiest guy around.

"But firstly, I want to play regularly and try to help Lille win a trophy."

The former Chelsea and West Ham United attacker scored his first goal for the Mastiffs during Saturday's 1-1 draw with Lorient.
