FA chief seeks Terry guidance

Football Association chairman David Bernstein has contacted the other 12 members of the board to seek their views on John Terry's England captaincy.

The Chelsea defender will stand trial on July 9 over allegations that he racially abused Queens Park Rangers' Anton Ferdinand during a game in October. Terry denies the charge.

There have been calls for the 31-year-old to stand down as skipper amid fears that the impending case could damage squad morale for Euro 2012.

Terry is believed to have rejected the idea of stepping down from the role.
