John Terry reportedly believes that it would be "wrong" to step down as England captain.

Chelsea defender John Terry will reportedly refuse to stand down as England captain, despite facing a trial on racism charges after Euro 2012.

Reports have claimed that the Football Association may force Three Lions manager Fabio Capello to drop the 31-year-old from the tournament as he could be found guilty of racially abusing Queens Park Rangers defender Anton Ferdinand.

Despite these suggestions, it appears that the centre-back will fight for the armband when England travel to Poland and Ukraine for the European Championships this summer.

"He won't stand down," BBC Sport quotes a source as saying. "He is sure of his innocence and thus feels it would be wrong to do so."

Terry will stand trial a week after the Euros on July 9.
