Clemence to leave Euro 2012 for operation

England manager Roy Hodgson has confirmed that goalkeeping coach Ray Clemence is leaving the Three Lions Euro 2012 party to undergo an Achilles operation.

The 63-year-old former stopper had to be carried off the field prior to England's 1-1 draw with France in Donetsk after snapping his tendon during the warm-up.

"Our hoodoo with injuries continues with Ray Clemence snapping his Achilles tendon in the warm-up," explained Hodgson.

"He's in an awful lot of pain and has to go back to England for an operation."

Clemence, who won 61 caps during his playing years, has been part of the England coaching set up since 1996.
