England Under-21s' Duncan Watmore delighted with match-winning display

England Under-21s foward Duncan Watmore admits that he was elated with his display in his side's 3-1 comeback win over Switzerland Under-21s at the Amex Stadium.

Duncan Watmore has revealed that he was delighted to play a vital role in securing a 3-1 comeback win in England Under-21s' European Championship qualifier against Switzerland Under-21s at the Amex Stadium.

The Sunderland forward arrived from the bench in the second half and won a penalty for his team in the 82nd minute, which saw James Ward-Prowse level the scores.

Watmore then fired Gareth Southgate's men ahead in the 85th minute by drilling a strike into the bottom corner before he then teed up Chuba Akpom to seal the victory in the dying seconds.

He told the Football Association's official website: "I'm obviously delighted.

"You always want to start football games but when you're on the bench you've got to make an impact and show the manager what you can do and try to change the game.

"That's your role as a substitute and hopefully I did do that today, which I was very grateful for but we got the win and that was the main thing."

Watmore's goal in the victory was his first for the Young Lions.
