Tiberio Guarente completes Empoli switch

Newly-promoted Serie A side Empoli have signed midfielder Tiberio Guarente from Sevilla on a one-year deal.

The Serie B runners-up have the option to extend the 28-year-old's contract by a further 12 months should they stay in the top flight.

Guarente, who joined Sevilla in 2010, spent last season on loan at Catania and Chievo respectively.

The Italian has represented his country at both Under-21 and Under-23 levels, but he is yet to be capped by the senior side.
