Tranquillo Barnetta happy with scrappy win

Tranquillo Barnetta admits that the win and not the performance was the important thing against Bordeaux.

Eintracht Frankfurt winger Tranquillo Barnetta has admitted that his side did not play their best, but was happy with the three points in the 1-0 win away to Bordeaux.

The result means that Frankfurt have won Group F even if they lose their next game, and Barnetta was glad to send the 12,000 travelling fans home happy.

"We didn't play very well today, but recently we've played well in games and ended up losing," quotes Barnetta as saying. "To get a win like this will give us confidence for our next games.

"Today we scored at the end, whereas we've tended to concede goals at the end. I can't explain what our problem has been [in the Bundesliga], but this gives us belief.

"It was incredible. This was the first time 12,000 fans have travelled with a team to a game like this. Unfortunately we couldn't give them much back in the game, but in the end we got the three points and everyone is happy."

Goalscorer Martin Lanig also paid tribute to the travelling support.

Frankfurt's Marco Russ is congratulated by team mates after scoring his team's second goal against Bordeaux during their Europa League group match on September 19, 2013
