Steve Evans targets vacant Dundee United, Motherwell manager jobs

Former Rotherham United manager Steve Evans says that he would love to manage in the Scottish Premiership, with the Dundee United and Motherwell jobs currently vacant.

Former Rotherham United manager Steve Evans has hinted that he will apply for the vacant manager's positions at Scottish Premiership clubs Dundee United and Motherwell.

Evans parted company with Rotherham with the club sitting in 20th in the Championship table.

"I am a proud Scot and returning to manage in the [Scottish] Premiership is definitely something that would interest me," Evans told The Express.

"There are a lot of good ambitious clubs in Scotland who are looking to progress and move forward. I just felt it was the right time, after a very successful two-and-a-half years, to step down from Rotherham.

"I have done a good job there with the two consecutive promotions and keeping Rotherham in the Championship, but I feel it is time for a new challenge. I am still a hugely ambitious manager and I want to have even more success in the game. I still have a burning ambition to manage and be out on the training ground because that is what I do best."

Dundee United sacked boss Jackie McNamara on Saturday, while Motherwell fired 44-year-old Ian Baraclough last week.
