Doncaster and Cardiff drew 0-0 in an uneventful stalemate at the Keepmoat Stadium this afternoon.

After a tentative start, it was the home side that had the first chance. A long Tommy Spurr throw-in caused havoc in the Cardiff penalty area before James Hayter headed wide at the far post.

James Coppinger then saw his long-range effort fly wide of the post for the hosts.

With both sides struggling to get a clear sight of goal it looked like it might take a mistake to separate the sides.

This nearly came in the 21st minute when a loose pass by Doncaster's Brian Stock set Kenny Miller through on goal. Just as he was preparing to pull the trigger, however, Sam Hird dived in with a last-gasp tackle in the penalty box.

Hayter went close twice more before the half finished, as did Kenny Miller with a 25-yard strike.

The second half wasn't much more eventful than the first. El-Hadji Diouf had his shot deflected past the Cardiff post in a rare highlight, while Aron Gunnarsson saw his long-range shot comfortably saved.

Bill Sharp had a penalty appeal turned down towards the end as Doncaster extended their unbeaten home run to five games.
