Derby vs. Forest postponed

This afternoon's East Midlands derby between Derby County and Nottingham Forest has been postponed because of safety issues around the stadium.

Undersoil heating and frost covers meant the pitch was playable but the amount of snow that fell in the area yesterday and overnight left the surrounding roads in a dangerous state.

Derby County chief executive Tom Glick told the club's website: "Every effort has been made to get this game on and we've had staff working around the clock giving their all for the cause, but unfortunately the decision has been made to call the game off.

"The pitch is fine and the inside of the stadium is safe and dry. However, the roads throughout the city and county are unsafe. This is the biggest match of the year for our supporters and we wouldn't want anyone to miss it because they had difficulty getting to Pride Park Stadium."

A new date for the fixture is yet to be announced.
