Bennett becomes youngest ever Derby player

Mason Bennett has become the youngest ever Derby County player after being selected in Nigel Clough's starting lineup for their trip to Middlesbrough.

The 15-year-old beats the previous record held by Lee Holmes by 169 days.

Rams boss Clough admitted that he wanted to take Bennett to Reading on Tuesday but was mindful of the fact he had school the next day.

Bennett is already an England Under-16s international and scored twice in the 3-1 win over Northern Ireland last month.
