Denmark register first win of qualifying campaign

Denmark have earned the first win of their World Cup qualifying campaign with a 3-0 victory over Czech Republic at the Andruv Stadium.

The first half was an even affair with both sides guilty of squandering chances as Matej Vydra fired wide on more than one occasion, while Christian Eriksen and Niki Zimling spurned openings for the visitors.

After the break, Denmark began to get a hold on the game and they duly took the lead through Andreas Cornelius as he fired a shot into the top corner of the net, after being teed up by Nicolai Jorgensen inside the box.

Ten minutes later the visitors doubled their lead when Simon Kjaer rose highest in the penalty area to head home Eriksen's pinpoint delivery from a corner past Petr Cech.

Cornelius should have made it three from another Eriksen corner but he somehow missed the target from six yards.

However, this didn't cost the Danes as eight minutes from time Zimling made sure of the points as he picked the ball up outside the area and let fly with a right-footed shot, which flew into the top corner.
