Alan Pardew: 'No deal in place" to sign Connor Wickham'

Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew has revealed that talks are underway to sign Connor Wickham from Sunderland, but no deal has yet been agreed.

Reports first emerged last week suggesting that the Eagles were interested in signing the 22-year-old forward this summer.

It has since been claimed that both clubs have agreed terms on a £9m transfer, but Pardew insists that there is still some way to go.

"There are some talks that have been leaked out," he is quoted as saying by talkSPORT. "There is no deal in place with the player at the moment."

Wickham found the net six times for the Black Cats last season, following on the back of an impressive end to the 2013-14 campaign.
