Patrick Vieira admits that he was impressed with how Crystal Palace bounced back from their Boxing Day disaster to defeat Bournemouth on New Year's Eve.

Patrick Vieira has insisted that he never doubted the commitment of his players as they impressively bounced back from defeat on Boxing Day with a victory over Bournemouth on New Year's Eve.

Earlier this week, Palace suffered a 3-0 loss at home to Fulham, who took full advantage of their hosts having two players sent off before the hour mark.

However, Palace had already been behind before the first red card, and Vieira had demanded a much-improved display upon their visit to the Vitality Stadium.

That is what the Frenchman got to witness as goals from Jordan Ayew and Eberechi Eze in the opening 36 minutes secured the visitors a 2-0 triumph.

Having ended a two-game losing streak, Palace now sit in 11th position in the standings, nine points ahead of the relegation zone.

Speaking to Match of the Day after the game, Vieira felt that his side had produced some of their best football to see off opponents who would have moved level on points with them had they been on the opposite end of the result.

Vieira said: "I don't have any doubt on players' commitment and quality. We knew against Fulham we did not play very well at all. So many aspects of our game were missing. And it was a one off. Of course we will win and lose games but today we played at the level we know we can. We managed to win the game and that is really positive for us.

"It wasn't comfortable at all. To win matches you need to be focused and concentrate, disciplined. All those aspects we had today and we had the quality. Today was a really good team performance from the first to the last minute.

"We have our goalkeeper coach look at the organisation of the opposition team and he had some ideas about how we could score goals. Today is good to score those goals because we have a quality with Michael on the ball and with Ebs [Eberechi Eze] who can shoot outside the box. So today it worked."

Palace are back in action on January 4 when they play host to London rivals Tottenham Hotspur at Selhurst Park.
