Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew urges fans to identify coin throwers

Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew urges fans to film videos or take photos of culprits following recent coin-throwing incidents.

Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew has called on supporters to identify any fans who throw coins in future following incidents against Newcastle United and Liverpool.

A coin was allegedly thrown during Palace's 2-1 defeat to Liverpool last weekend, three days after Newcastle's Fabricio Coloccini was hit in the face with another during their 1-1 draw.

The Football Association is currently investigating the incidents, both of which occurred at Palace's home ground of Selhurst Park.

Today, Pardew has urged fans to film videos or take photos of similar incidents when they occur because he believes that the recent events in Paris involving Chelsea supporters prove how important social media can be.

"If fans are standing next to someone, film them and lets have a picture of them and we will do our best to find them," Pardew told reporters in this afternoon's press conference. "The incident with Chelsea in Paris shows you the strength of social media.

"It is big concern for the football club. I hope it stops because it is something we want to take out of the game. We have had two incidents and we need to stamp it down. That is what the officials at this club will try and do.

"The first time a coin is thrown it is maybe in the heat of the moment and a stupid thing to do. To do it twice is stupid and we can't accept that at any level. We have got the best atmosphere in the country and we do not want to lose that [because of] silly little incidents."

The fans in question could face bans from Selhurst Park if they are found guilty of throwing missiles.
