Owen Garvan: 'Wilfried Zaha will be a top player'

Garvan: 'Zaha will be a top player'

Crystal Palace midfielder Owen Garvan has backed Wilfried Zaha to become a top player ahead of the winger's move to Manchester United this summer.

Zaha, 20, helped Palace overcome Watford in this afternoon's Championship playoff final, winning the penalty that ultimately led to them securing promotion to the top flight.

It was Zaha's final game for the club having agreed to join United back in January, and Garvan revealed that the youngster was in tears after the match.

"Fair play to him, he cares so much about the club, he's been here since such a young age," said Garvan.

"He was crying in the dressing room afterwards. He grew up with the club, he's fond of the club but you can't really turn down Manchester United.

"I'm sure David Moyes will get into him and he will be a top player in the future."

The Championship playoff final is estimated to be worth at least £120m to the winners, making it the richest match in football.
