UEFA have opened disciplinary proceedings against the Croatian Football Federation following the behaviour of the country's fans during their Euro 2012 Group C clash with Spain on Monday.
It is understood that Croatian players will also be investigated for their behaviour throughout the encounter – which saw them eliminated from the competition.
Racist banners and logos were displayed, while fireworks were also thrown onto the pitch by supporters.
A statement from UEFA read: "UEFA has today opened disciplinary proceedings against the Croatian Football Federation (HNS) for the setting-off and throwing of fireworks, and the improper conduct of supporters (display of racist banners and symbols) at the EURO 2012 Group C match against Spain in Gdansk on Monday.
"The disciplinary case also involves the improper conduct of the team (six Croatian players received a yellow card during the match)."
A decision is set to be made on June 24.
