Costa Rica's Keylor Navas misses training ahead of quarter-final

Costa Rica goalkeeper Keylor Navas misses training on Wednesday with a shoulder injury, but is expected to be fit for their quarter-final against Netherlands.

Costa Rica goalkeeper Keylor Navas sat out of training on Wednesday but is expected to be fit for their World Cup quarter-final against Netherlands on Saturday.

The Levante stopper has been a key figure in the Central American nation's unanticipated progress to the last eight, saving the decisive penalty in their shootout victory over Greece in the second round.

A shoulder injury prevented him from practising with his teammates four days before they meet the Dutch, but Costa Rican doctors have insisted that this was merely a precaution, and Navas should be available to play in Salvador.

"We have to be careful and keep an eye on it," doctor Erick Sanchez told reporters. "We chose to be careful with him and let him rest so he can play on Saturday."

Left-back Roy Miller has been ruled out of the game, while fellow defender Oscar Duarte is suspended.
