Chicago Fire eye up move for Manchester United's Rio Ferdinand

Chicago Fire target Rio Ferdinand

Major League Soccer club Chicago Fire are interested in luring Manchester United favourite Rio Ferdinand to the United States, according to the Daily Mail.

The Illinois-based club are eager to bring a British star to the side in order to compete with LA Galaxy, who boast a team including former Red Devil David Beckham and ex Tottenham Hotspur striker Robbie Keane.

The England international is reportedly open to a move to the MLS next summer as his contract at Old Trafford expires at the end of the season.

Meanwhile, the 32-year-old has been left out of the England squad to face Montenegro in the side's Euro 2012 qualifier on Friday.
