Sheffield Wednesday snap up ex-Chelsea defender Sam Hutchinson

Sheffield Wednesday have completed the permanent signing of former loanee Sam Hutchinson on a two-year contract.

The 24-year-old defender moves to Hillsborough following the expiration of his contract at Premier League side Chelsea.

He spent a portion of last season on loan at the Owls, making 10 appearances in the Championship between February and the end of the campaign.

Hutchinson's acquisition is the second piece of business done by Wednesday today following the re-signing of veteran goalkeeper Chris Kirkland.
