Report: Chelsea leading race to sign Marco Reus

A report suggests that Chelsea are in pole position to sign Borussia Dortmund midfielder Marco Reus in a £20m deal next summer.

Chelsea are leading the race to sign Borussia Dortmund midfielder Marco Reus, according to a report.

The 25-year-old is poised to leave the Bundesliga side next summer after turning down the offer of a new contract with the club, and his £20m buy-out clause has alerted several top teams around Europe.

The Blues have apparently worked hard behind the scenes to moved ahead of their rivals - including Manchester United, Arsenal and Bayern Munich – into pole position to sign the Germany international.

Chelsea are ready to offer Reus wages in the region of £130,000 per week to persuade him to make the switch to Stamford Bridge, rather Dortmund's bitter Bundesliga rivals Bayern, reports The People.

Reus is currently out of action with an ankle ligament injury, which will rule him out until early next year.
