Chelsea transfer news: Blues 'struggling' to attract offers for unwanted international, 'set asking price' for fellow exiled player

Price-drops incoming? Chelsea 'struggling' to attract offers for unwanted international

Chelsea are reportedly struggling in their attempt to attract interest in defender Ben Chilwell.

Soon after the arrival of Enzo Maresca, the England international found himself exiled from the first-team squad courtesy of not featuring in the plans of the Italian.

Chilwell would spent the second half of the campaign on loan at Crystal Palace, making two starts and nine substitute outings in all competitions as the Eagles won the FA Cup.

However, Palace have not made an attempt to keep the 28-year-old on a permanent basis, leaving the player in limbo as he awaits interest.

According to The Athletic, neither Chelsea or Chilwell are having as much success on that front than they would have anticipated.

Chilwell facing uncertain future

The report claims that no clubs have expressed any firm interest in signing the left-back, a big-earner at Stamford Bridge with a history of injury issues.

Largely a consequence of not being first choice rather than fitness-related, Chilwell accumulated just 440 minutes of senior football throughout 2024-25.

As such, it remains to be seen what level of club may eventually make a move for the former Leicester City star, with both the player and Chelsea likely having to make allowances when it comes to negotiating terms.

Chilwell has two years remaining on his contract and may be prepared to run that down further if no suitable offers arrive, even if it means more months on the sidelines.

At this point, Chelsea are not realistically in a position to generate a sizeable fee for someone who cost in the region of £50m back in 2020.

What is latest on Chelsea forward Broja?

Meanwhile, Chelsea officials are allegedly looking to receive £25m for the sale of Armando Broja.

The Albania international racked up just 353 minutes of football on loan at Everton last season and, like Chilwell, is in need of a fresh start.

Chelsea's stance comes from wanting to generate as much money as possible from the sale of a homegrown talent, but it is highly unlikely that any team will meet their demands.

Stuttgart and RB Leipzig are reportedly monitoring the situation, there being no rush to make their moves when the 23-year-old's valuation is out of range.

Since the start of 2022-23, Broja has scored just three senior goals from 1,595 minutes of football across all competitions.
