Nicolas Otamendi would 'think about Premier League opportunity'

Porto defender Nicolas Otamendi opens the door to a move to either Chelsea or Manchester City by insisting that a mid-season move won't damage his World Cup hopes.

Reported Manchester City and Chelsea target Nicolas Otamendi has admitted that he would give the chance to move to the Premier League some consideration.

Both Manuel Pellegrini and Jose Mourinho are understood to be looking at defensive reinforcements in January and have been linked with the Porto centre-back.

Argentina international Otamendi is flattered in the interest in him and has opened the door to a potential switch by insisting that a mid-season move to a new club would not jeopardise his World Cup hopes.

He told Portuguese newspaper Record: "My mind is at Porto and continuing to play here. I want to do my job to the best of my ability. Porto draws attention around the world and these rumours still exist.

"But I'm glad they speak well of me, that means I do things well. If an opportunity presents itself, I'll think. I will continue to help Porto.

"I do not think changing clubs in January would harm me in the context of the World Cup. I always want to do my best, wherever I play."

Monaco have also been mooted as admirers of Otamendi, 25, who has made 92 Porto appearances.
