Jose Mourinho: 'Chelsea in market for new left-back'

Jose Mourinho confirms that left-back Filipe Luis is likely to leave the club over the next 48 hours, opening the door for a new face to come in this summer.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has admitted that he is looking to recruit a new left-back after agreeing to sell Filipe Luis to Atletico Madrid.

The 29-year-old defender has failed to settle at Stamford Bridge since joining from the La Liga club 12 months ago.

A move back to the Spanish capital, where he previously enjoyed a four-year spell at the Vicente Calderon, has appeared to be on the cards for some time now.

Mourinho has confirmed that Luis is likely to move on in the next 48 hours, meaning that further depth will need to be added in that defensive area.

"In this moment we need a left-back because I think we are selling Filipe Luis now or tomorrow (Wednesday), but I think we will sell Filipe Luis," Goal.com quotes the Portuguese as saying.

"We need to go the market, we need to find a club that accepts a bid until 31 August, and we are going for a left-back. In other positions we have no space."

Augsburg left-back Baba Rahman is rumoured to be Mourinho's number one target to fill the left-back void.
