Chelsea, Manchester United receive Gianluigi Donnarumma transfer boost after PSG 'selection' decision

Man Utd, Chelsea receive Donnarumma boost as PSG make 'brutal' selection decision

Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly excluded Gianluigi Donnarumma from their squad for the UEFA Super Cup.

Chelsea and Manchester United have long been credited with a move for the 26-year-old goalkeeper, who is one of 30 players to have been shortlisted for the 2025 Ballon d'Or award

Donnarumma has a contract at Parc des Princes until 2026, and he is not looking to extend his deal with the European champions.

PSG have already confirmed the arrival of goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier from Lille, which further puts Donnarumma's long-term future at the club in doubt.

The Red Devils could be looking to sign a new goalkeeper to provide competition for Andre Onana, who has frequently faced criticism for his performances between the sticks last season.

Donnarumma likely to leave PSG after brutal selection decision?

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Italian goalkeeper will '100%' leave the club, be it now or next summer, and the player's camp feels that the goalkeeper finds himself in an 'unfair' situation.

In another X (formerly Twitter) post, Romano claims that Donnarumma's relationship with PSG is completely broken, after the club brutally decided to exclude him from the UEFA Super Cup squad.

The Premier League appears to be the most likely destination, with ESPN previously reporting that the Red Devils, the Blues, and Inter Milan are all expected to make approaches for the goalkeeper.

Donnarumma would be a terrific signing for Man Utd and Chelsea

Both United and Chelsea have reportedly made contact with the Italian's representatives, and PSG are now bracing for the official bids for the former AC Milan hero.

Man Utd have overhauled their forward department this summer, with the signings of Bryan Mbeumo, Benjamin Sesko and Matheus Cunha. However, they still need more depth and quality elsewhere, especially in the goalkeeping areas.

Andre Onana has frequently faced criticism for his sloppy errors between the sticks last season, and Ruben Amorim could be looking to add competition for the number one spot.

Likewise, Enzo Maresca may need an upgrade over Robert Sanchez, who has been inconsistent at Stamford Bridge. While he remains the first-choice keeper for the Chelsea boss, Donnarumma, with his tremendous quality and vast experience, could be a terrific option for the Londoners.
