David Luiz: 'I rejected Barcelona offer'

Chelsea defender David Luiz has claimed that he rejected advances from Barcelona during the summer transfer window.

The Brazilian defender was rumoured to be a target for the Spanish club for most of the summer and he has now revealed that an official offer was made.

"There was an official offer [from Barcelona], but I decided to stay at Chelsea," Luiz told Gazeta Esportiva.

"I am happy to play for a big club and be in the national team to represent my country."

Luiz moved to Stamford Bridge from Benfica in January 2011.
