Jorginho reveals that he dreams of playing under Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola and claims he 'was not supposed to join Chelsea' back in 2018.

Jorginho has revealed that he dreams of playing under Pep Guardiola and claims he 'was not supposed to join Chelsea' back in 2018.

The 30-year-old Italy international was linked with a move to Manchester City before he made the switch from Napoli to Stamford Bridge, and he has since become an important figure for the London outfit.

Jorginho has, however, admitted that he would like to play under Guardiola at some stage of his career and revealed that he enjoyed watching Barcelona over a decade ago when the Spaniard was coaching the likes of Xavi, Andres Iniesta and Ronaldinho.

Speaking in a YouTube interview with Ale Oliveira, Jorginho said: "I wasn't supposed to come to Chelsea. I was supposed to have arrived at another club. Another English club. And then it happened as it happened and I arrived at Chelsea.

"So with Chelsea everything happened very fast. When I saw their offer, I was already in London and I said, 'Let's go.'

"Have I ever dreamed of playing under Guardiola? I have. I don't know if it will happen. But yeah, he's a reference.

"When I was a kid, I watched his Barcelona win everything with Ronaldinho, Xavi, Iniesta."

Jorginho has made 173 appearances for Chelsea across all competitions and his impressive form for club and country last season was recognised when he was nominated for the 2021 Ballon d'Or, finishing third behind Robert Lewandowski and Lionel Messi.
