Branislav Ivanovic has signed a one-year contract extension with Premier League champions Chelsea.
The Serbian defender, 31, was due to be out of contract at the end of the season, but will now remain at Stamford Bridge until summer 2017.
"I am very happy to stay with Chelsea for another season," Ivanovic told the club website. "After eight years here this is my home and there is no other place I would rather play football.
"I have enjoyed so much success since moving to the club and I am determined to help the team achieve more in the last months of this season and next year as well."
Since arriving at Stamford Bridge in January 2008, Ivanovic has won the Champions League, two Premier League titles, three FA Cups and one League Cup, as well as heading the winner in the 2013 Europa League final.
In total he has made 341 appearances and scored 32 goals for the Blues.
