Roberto Di Matteo: 'Daniel Sturridge has Chelsea future'

Di Matteo "happy" to keep Sturridge

Chelsea manager Roberto Di Matteo has dismissed claims that he is ready to sell Daniel Sturridge.

The forward scored against Manchester United on Wednesday evening in a rare start for the Champions League winners, but recent reports had suggested that Liverpool were preparing a bid for the 23-year-old.

However, Di Matteo has declared himself happy with Sturridge's role in his squad.

The Italian said: "I get asked about speculation but I am very happy with him. He scored a goal and had a number of good chances.

"He's our striker and as far as I'm concerned he's part of this team."

Sturridge has 18 months left on his current deal at Stamford Bridge.
