Chelsea to secure Gregory Van der Wiel?

Chelsea have reportedly emerged as the favourites to sign Ajax defender Gregory Van der Wiel.

The 24-year-old's contract with the Dutch club expires in 2013, and he reportedly came close to joining Valencia in January.

According to talkSPORT, however, Chelsea will attempt to secure the deal before the defender joins up with the Netherlands squad for Euro 2012.

Van der Wiel has 25 international appearances to his name.
