Chelsea may reportedly have to cash in on a number of players once Roman Abramovich has completed the sale of the Premier League club.

Chelsea may reportedly have to cash in on a number of players once Roman Abramovich has parted ways with the Premier League club.

Amid Russia's military invasion of Ukraine, Abramovich has made the decision to sell a club that he has owned since 2003, partly due to needing to protect his own assets.

While a number of parties are said to be interested in purchasing the West London outfit, Chelsea may face the prospect of making significant cutbacks during the summer transfer window.

According to The Athletic, the Blues could sell a number of players who were initially expected to spend at least another campaign at Stamford Bridge.

Although no members of the first-team squad are specifically named, it is suggested that a balance will need to be found with regards to remaining as a team who can challenge for the top-flight crown and balancing the books.

Uncertainty also persists over the futures of Cesar Azpilicueta, Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen, although the latter of the out-of-contract trio is said to be on the brink of signing for Barcelona on a free transfer.
