Chelsea 'learn asking price for Declan Rice'

Chelsea would reportedly have to come up with an offer of 'more than £70m' in order to sign West Ham United's Declan Rice during this summer's transfer window.

The Blues are allegedly keen to re-sign Rice ahead of the 2020-21 campaign, with head coach Frank Lampard allegedly viewing the England international as the ideal player to operate in the middle of a back three next term.

A recent report claimed that Chelsea were lining up a £45m offer, but according to the Evening Standard, the capital giants would have to bid in excess of £70m to convince the Hammers to sell.

Rice, who turned out for the Blues as a youth player between 2006 and 2014, has contributed two assists in 32 Premier League appearances for David Moyes's side during the current season.

West Ham are in a strong position when it comes to negotiations, meanwhile, as they have the holding midfielder on a contract until June 2024, with the option of a 12-month extension.

Manchester United have also previously been credited with an interest.
