Chelsea are reportedly in pole position to win the race to sign Torino defender Gleison Bremer during the January transfer window.

Chelsea are reportedly regarded as the frontrunners to sign Torino defender Bremer during the January transfer window.

Although the Blues are well-stocked for options in the middle of defence, several of their current crop have contracts which expire in the summer.

Club officials are attempting to extend each of those deals, a situation which requires 'patience' according to head coach Thomas Tuchel.

Nevertheless, according to TuttoMercatoWeb, Chelsea lead the race to secure the signature of Bremer at the midway point of the campaign.

The 24-year-old is allegedly keen on seal a transfer to the Premier League, and it is claimed that Stamford Bridge is currently the most likely destination.

During a period where Torino possess the fourth-best defensive record in Serie A, Bremer has started all but one of their 17 league fixtures.
