Chelsea transfer news: £55m bid 'rejected' by Juventus as Enzo Maresca suffers setback

Chelsea: £55m bid 'rejected' by Juventus

Fresh off their FIFA Club World Cup triumph, Chelsea appear determined to be active in the summer transfer window. According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the Blues have submitted a €65m (£55m) bid for Juventus youngster Kenan Yildiz.

Back in the Champions League after two difficult Premier League campaigns, Chelsea are now aiming to reassert their dominance on the European stage. The BlueCo project is taking shape this summer following the Club World Cup success, and the club plans to continue its strategy of mass recruitment.

Three forwards have already arrived this summer – Liam Delap, Joao Pedro and young Brazilian prospect Estevao Willian. While the Blues are now expected to offload some of their unwanted players, Enzo Maresca's side are still monitoring the market.

Chelsea offered £55m for Kenan Yildiz

According to the Italian outlet, a £55m bid has been submitted to Juventus for their highly-rated 20-year-old forward. However, the offer was turned down, with the Serie A side making it clear that Yildiz is not for sale.

The Turkish winger is viewed as one of the most promising talents in the Juventus squad, and the club’s leadership want him to become a central figure in the team’s long-term project.

Despite being valued at around €50m (£43m), the Bianconeri have rejected Chelsea’s approach, which signals their confidence in the player’s future at the club.

As a result, the London side could now shift their attention to Xavi Simons of RB Leipzig, who remains one of their priority targets during this transfer window.
