Chelsea transfer news: Nicolas Jackson insists he 'has no competition' amid Man United, Newcastle United talk

Chelsea forward Jackson responds to exit speculation, insists he 'has no competition'

Chelsea forward Nicolas Jackson has insisted that he does not view some of the club's new signings as "competition" for his place in the team.

Jackson can claim to have enjoyed a solid two years at Stamford Bridge since signing from Villarreal, contributing 30 goals and 12 assists from 81 appearances in all competitions.

However, Liam Delap and Joao Pedro quickly moved ahead of the Senegal international at the Club World Cup, the latter netting three times in as many games as the Blues won the competition.

For the past month, the 24-year-old has been heavily linked with a transfer elsewhere, the likes of Manchester United, Newcastle United and Aston Villa all being viewed as potential destinations.

In an exclusive interview with DSports TV, Jackson has suggested that he is not intimidated about having to fight for a role in Enzo Maresca's first XI.

Jackson comments on Delap, Pedro

When quizzed on having some "serious competition", Jackson claimed that he simply remains focused on trying to do his best to impress his head coach.

Jackson said: "Competition? I have no competition. We're all here to help the club. Everyone has their role to play.

"I'm on a mission. It's up to the coach to make his choices. I focus solely on my work."

On talk over a potential transfer elsewhere, Jackson added: "I'm a Chelsea player. The future belongs to God. If there are any changes, you'll know. For now, I'm focused on my preparation."

What is likely outcome over Jackson's future?

Jackson and his Chelsea teammates are due back for the start of their shortened pre-season over the coming days having been given three weeks off by Maresca from July 13.

As a result, Jackson will be focused on getting fit for the new campaign with noise regarding his future likely to continue in the background.

Chelsea are said to value Jackson in the region of £80m and see him as someone who could potentially develop into a £100m player.

That will realistically leave any interested teams struggling to meet Chelsea's demands. The West Londoners also have no pressing desire to sell a player who has a contract until 2033.

Therefore, despite the array of talent capable of featuring in Chelsea's final third, Jackson is expected to stay put, even if he has effectively become third choice for the number nine spot in just a short space of time.
