Premier League strugglers Aston Villa want to sign striker Michy Batshuayi on loan from Chelsea for the remainder of the season, according to a report.

Premier League strugglers Aston Villa reportedly want to sign striker Michy Batshuayi on loan from Chelsea for the remainder of the season.

The Belgian, who spent the second half of the last campaign with Crystal Palace, has made 12 substitute appearances for the Blues in the Premier League this season but all of have them have come from the bench.

It is believed that the 26-year-old is open to making a move away from Stamford Bridge in the January transfer window as he looks to secure his spot in Belgium's squad for this summer's European Championships.

Footmercato reports that Villa are openly pursuing a loan that would give them the option to potentially buy Batshuayi at the end of the season.

Villa's interest is likely to increase following the report earlier on Thursday that indicated their leading striker Wesley is set to miss the rest of the current campaign with a cruciate ligament injury.
