Antonio Rudiger 'set to leave Chelsea before transfer deadline'

Chelsea will sell German defender Antonio Rudiger before the end of this summer's transfer window, according to a report.

Antonio Rudiger will reportedly leave Chelsea before the end of this summer's transfer window.

The Germany international was on the bench for his side's 3-1 win over Brighton & Hove Albion on September 14 but was not included in the clash with Liverpool on Sunday afternoon.

After the 2-0 defeat to the Reds, head coach Frank Lampard revealed that the 27-year-old was not injured and had simply not been selected due to Chelsea's options in central defence.

According to The Telegraph, Rudiger will also not feature against Barnsley in the EFL Cup on Wednesday night and is expected to leave Stamford Bridge before the transfer deadline at the start of October.

The defender, who has been capped on 31 occasions by the German national team, joined Chelsea from Roma in 2017.

Rudiger has made 115 appearances for the London club in all competitions but is likely to fall further down the pecking order once summer arrival Thiago Silva overcomes his fitness issues.
