Chelsea injury, suspension news and return dates for Southampton: Chalobah, Jackson, Madueke latest

How bad is Chalobah's concern? Chelsea injury, suspension list for Southampton

Reeling from a third straight defeat across all tournaments, Chelsea have plenty of wrongs to right at home to crisis club Southampton on Tuesday night.

The Blues took a 1-0 lead at Aston Villa's West Midlands home on Saturday evening only to fall to an excruciating 2-1 loss, as Marco Asensio struck an 89th-minute winner which Filip Jorgensen should have kept out.

Enzo Maresca's men still trail the top four in the Premier League table as a result, but few should expect anything other than a resounding win for Tuesday's hosts against their last-placed visitors.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Chelsea's injury and suspension news ahead of their clash with Southampton, who conceded four without reply against Brighton & Hove Albion at the weekend.

Trevoh Chalobah

Status: Out Type of injury: Back Possible return date: March 6 (vs. Copenhagen)

Trevoh Chalobah's race was run after just eight minutes at Villa Park due to a back injury, and even though Maresca said that the defender was "quite good" after the game, he is now set for at least a week on the sidelines.

Wesley Fofana

Status: Out Type of injury: Hamstring Possible return date: March 16 (vs. Arsenal)

Maresca revealed earlier this month that Wesley Fofana was "working" with the team again as he steps up his recovery from a thigh problem, but a return before mid-March is still unlikely.

Benoit Badiashile

Status: Out Type of injury: Thigh Possible return date: March 9 (vs. Leicester City)

Benoit Badiashile should be one of the next cabs off the Chelsea rank, but the Frenchman's own thigh injury might take another couple of weeks to heal fully.

Omari Kellyman

Status: Out Type of injury: Hamstring Possible return date: Unknown

New boy Omari Kellyman is still waiting for his first senior Chelsea appearance due to a hamstring problem, one that will also keep him out for this weekend.

Romeo Lavia

Status: Out Type of injury: Thigh Possible return date: April 2 (vs. Tottenham Hotspur)

Romeo Lavia re-entered the treatment room with a new thigh injury just two games after recovering from a previous issue, and the Belgian is not expected to return until after the next international break.

Nicolas Jackson

Status: Out Type of injury: Hamstring Possible return date: April 2 (vs. Tottenham Hotspur)

Likewise, star striker Nicolas Jackson is likely to be missing until the beginning of April on account of his own hamstring problem, which he picked up against West Ham United on February 3.

Marc Guiu

Status: Out Type of injury: Hamstring Possible return date: April 2 (vs. Tottenham Hotspur)

Fellow striker Marc Guiu hurt his hamstring in the same match after replacing Jackson, and the Spanish youngster also faces another few weeks on the treatment table.

Noni Madueke

Status: Out Type of injury: Hamstring Possible return date: April 2 (vs. Tottenham Hotspur)

Completing Chelsea's list of thigh-related absentees, Noni Madueke suffered a problem against Brighton & Hove Albion on February 14 and should also be out until after the next international break.

CHELSEA'S SUSPENSION LIST

Mykhaylo Mudryk

Possible return date: Unknown

Ukrainian winger Mykhaylo Mudryk tested positive for meldonium and is still serving a provisional doping ban while his case is under investigation.
