Walker: 'Mourinho will help Falcao'

Former Chelsea winger Clive Walker has backed manager Jose Mourinho to get the best out of Radamel Falcao next season.

The AS Monaco striker sealed a season-long loan move to the Blues on Friday following weeks of speculation.

The Colombian hitman netted just four times for Manchester United last season, but Walker, who spent eight years at Stamford Bridge, says that Mourinho has the know-how when it comes to reinvigorating players.

"I know Jose has admired him from his time in Spain and Portugal," the 58-year-old former winger told Perform.

"He knows what he's doing when he's buying players Jose Mourinho, and he certainly feels he can be a big asset this season.

"I think when Jose Mourinho makes a decision - and we're talking about a world-class player now - and okay it's a season-long loan, but I'm sure the wages are quite high. So when paying quite a bit of money for someone Jose Mourinho likes to get it right."

Falcao could make his competitive debut when the reigning Premier League champions face FA Cup winners Arsenal at Wembley for the Community Shield on August 2.
