Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas has paid tribute to Daniel Sturridge after the striker scored twice in his side’s 3-1 friendly victory over Rangers at Ibrox.
Nikica Jelavic gave the home side a first-half lead before the former Manchester City player struck twice. The win was secured by a Florent Malouda strike.
“I think Daniel has been a key part in this pre-season,†Villas-Boas said in the post-match press conference.
“This is nothing new to us because we have seen this at Bolton and he deserves this chance. He has shown his qualities.â€
Sturridge scored eight goals in 12 games for the Wanderers last season.
