Jose Mourinho: 'Chelsea did not deserve defeat'

Jose Mourinho says that his Chelsea troops did not deserve their 2-1 defeat to Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge.

Jose Mourinho has suggested that Chelsea deserved at least a point from this afternoon's 2-1 defeat to Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge.

Alan Pardew's side stunned the champions as Joel Ward's 81st-minute winner - moments after Radamel Falcao had equalised - proved enough to spoil Mourinho's 100th Premier League home game as Blues boss.

Chelsea, who fell behind to Bakary Sako's opener on 65 minutes, had 26 shots at goal, nine of which were on target, and the Portuguese says that a draw would have been a fairer reflection.

"Congratulations to Palace. It's a fantastic result for them and a very good performance," he told BBC Sport.

"We didn't deserve to lose. But Palace gave us a very difficult game. The result should be a draw, which would still be bad for us. We did enough not to lose."

Consequence of the defeat, Mourinho's men fell eight points behind Manchester City, who preserved their 100% record with a 2-0 win over Watford.
