Jose Mourinho talks up title ambitions, plays down hopes of going unbeaten

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho talks up his side's hopes of wining the Premier League title, but suggests that the Blues may not be able to go unbeaten all season.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has admitted that his team could become Premier League champions this season, but also conceded that the nature of the league suggests that his side may not be able to complete an unbeaten run to the title.

The Blues provided further evidence of their strength this season with a well-earned 2-1 victory away at Liverpool this afternoon, keeping the London club at the top of the table having played 11 games.

"I think it is possible to be champions - before the season started we considered ourselves contenders but in modern football, especially in the Premier League, I don't believe in an unbeaten run," said Mourinho, according to Sky Sports News.

"It is a good start and I believe my team can keep this stability. One day we will lose and the next game we will win again and one day we will play badly because it is the nature of the game but we will recover the quality of our game.

"I know that the negative moment will arrive, the defeat will arrive, and we are prepared for that. At this moment we are a happy camp. One day the defeat arrives and when it does we will be the same."

Chelsea's next league fixture sees them welcome West Bromwich Albion to Stamford Bridge.
