David Luiz has leapt to the defence of Chelsea teammate Didier Drogba after the striker was accused of mocking Benfica.
Footage of the striker feigning fear in reaction to the Champions League quarter-final draw has apparently angered the Portuguese team.
However, Luiz, who moved the Stamford Bridge from the Lisbon outfit just over a year ago, does not believe that Drogba's jibe was aimed at his former teammates.
"If people watch the video closely, it's not directed at Benfica," said the 24-year-old. "He was talking about Barcelona because Barcelona are a very, very big team.
"Chelsea know how Benfica reached this far. They're a strong team. Drogba's character wouldn't allow him to disrespect another team."
The two teams meet at the Estadio da Luz in the first leg of their quarter-final tie tonight.
