Swansea City manager Michael Laudrup: 'Chelsea wanted me'

Swansea City manager Michael Laudrup claims that Chelsea were interested in appointing him as their boss before they secured the services of Jose Mourinho.

Swansea City manager Michael Laudrup has claimed that Chelsea were interested in appointing him as their boss before they secured the services of Jose Mourinho.

The Danish manager was believed to have been in demand during the summer after guiding the Swans to ninth place in the Premier League and victory in the Capital One Cup.

"Someone tried to know my availability through intermediaries, but there was nothing concrete," Portuguese newspaper A Bola quotes him as saying. "Also, I had given my word that I would be in Swansea."

Swansea have averaged just a point a game so far this season and sit 15th in the table after seven games.
