Frank Lampard "delighted" with reception during Chelsea game

Frank Lampard says that Chelsea fans showed "complete class" by giving him a standing ovation at the end of their draw with Manchester City at Stamford Bridge.

Manchester City midfielder Frank Lampard has said that he is "deligted" with how he was received by Chelsea fans on his first return back to the club.

Lampard spent 13 years at Stamford Bridge, but controversially left to join Manchester City last summer amid contract confusion with New York City FC.

However, he received a standing ovation from the whole stadium when he came on in the 77th minute of the 1-1 draw on Saturday.

He told Sky Sports News: "I enjoyed it. I was delighted with the reception from both sides, Man City fans have been brilliant for me up there. And Chelsea fans quite rightly get behind their team and showed complete class at the end to give me an ovation.

"I'm pleased with that moment because I didn't get that at the back end of last year. I can be very thankful for that."

Lampard is expected to join MLS outfit New York City in the summer.
