Fernandinho: 'Diego Costa tries to offend'

Manchester City midfielder Fernandinho says that Chelsea striker Diego Costa tries to "offend the opposition" following their clash on Sunday.

Manchester City midfielder Fernandinho has claimed that Chelsea striker Diego Costa tries to "offend the opposition" following their clash on Sunday.

Costa was left requiring a bandage as an elbow from the Brazilian midfielder drew blood from the Spaniard's head during City's 3-0 victory over the Blues.

Fernandinho has suggested that Costa's aggressive nature on the pitch is designed to wind up opposing players.

"He is always trying to offend the opposition, but I keep calm and keep playing," the 30-year-old told The Mirror.

"I just didn't want to fight or have any confrontation and just to play for my team."

City have won both of their Premier League games so far this season.
