Chelsea's Didier Drogba "overwhelmed" by £400,000 total raised for his charity

Drogba "overwhelmed" by £400k fundraising total

Chelsea star Didier Drogba has admitted that he is "overwhelmed" by the amount of donations received to reach a £400,000 total for his Foundation.

The former Ivory Coast international hosted a charity ball, which was attended by numerous Chelsea stars, in London last weekend.

The event, which included a live auction, has raised enough money to open a medical clinic in Abidjan later this year.

"I'm always so overwhelmed by the kind generosity and support that we see each time we host these events and Saturday was no exception," Drogba told Chelsea's official website.

Included in the auction were VIP tickets to the highly-anticipated fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr and Manny Pacquiao at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on May 2.
